Once again experience delicious baked potatoes topped with homemade chili, sour cream and chives followed by a banana split with everything on top! Eat a delicious meal, bid on silent auction items and listen to great music by local talent all in the name of raising money to keep our camp in tip top shape! Contact Janet Burghardt-Moore at janbran@live.ca or Rhonda Paquette at rpaquette@hotmail.ca  to help out.

The whole crew! Sydney and Shirley scrubbing down tables in Ross Lodge. Donna and Tess cleaning Reid House. Janet cooking up a storm. Charlie fixing the doors on Ross Lodge. Vern hauling out a load for cardboard. Ernest unloading his cleaning arsenal!

Camp Cleanup 2013 was very productive thanks to an impressive turnout of volunteers and summer staff! 24 of us put our shoulders to the wheel and scrubbed, swept, mowed, fixed, and sorted. The camp will be in tip-top shape for our upcoming camping season.

We owe a special thanks to Janet Ball who provided lunch for our crew.

Sydney Morris was our youngest volunteer. She came all the way from Calgary to help grandma Shirley Gehman. Syndey and Shirley are looking forward to Family Camp this summer.

A huge thanks to our volunteers: Kelly Milne, Vern Lowe, Janet Burghardt & Brian Godlonton, Tess, Donna, & Megan Anderson, Janet Ball & Charlie Ball, Leo Quaife, Cristy & Regan Rusaw, Kevin Flaman, Hannelore Beach, Ernest & Nyna Marr, Deb Marsh, Jessica Dore, The Defoes, Shirley Gehman & Sydney Norris,

Hundredx100: KEC is “branching out” through a new fundraiser!

KEC received some disappointing news earlier this spring: the Alberta Student Temporary Employment Program (STEP) has been cancelled. STEP was a provincial grant that KEC applied for annually to help subsidize staffing costs. We are still focused on keeping our summer program affordable for all campers, and have new idea…

You may have noticed the little sapling that has sprouted up on the browser bar of our website. This “money tree” will measure our progress as we introduce a new fundraiser: the Hundredx100 project.

The Hundredx100 project takes a big goal- raising $10,000- and breaks it into 100 smaller steps. We are looking for 100 donors to each make a $100 online donation. Every time a donation is made, we will add another leaf to our money tree. The money we earn from this major fundraiser will be split between supporting our summer program and maintaining the camp facilities.

We already have two donors! You can help us reach our goal by making a donation or approaching new donors on our behalf. You can learn more about this fundraiser at the link below:

Lindsey, John, and Collette, serving up green eggs and ham. The Brandt family enjoying the top'o'their morning! Joyce looks fabulous in green. She should have won a best dressed award! Emily, Vivian, and Naomi helped clear tables. Ken and Zoe were busy in the kitchen scrambling green eggs. Where did Vern find the green chickens? Vern and Chess were on pancake duty for the morning.

On March 17 Sunnybrook United Church hosted a Shamrock Breakfast in support of KEC. Guests were treated to pancakes and… green eggs and ham! The event had a great turnout with many volunteers and supporters decked out in their finest green attire. Due to many donors and volunteers, the event raised $1000 for camp. We owe a huge thank-you to Sunnybrook United and event coordinator, Vern Lowe.

The new posters are printed and they look GREAT! They will be arriving soon at United Churches in the Red Deer Presbytery!
